DIY Focus Stacking Slide

In 2017, I developed, what I now consider, a primitive focus-stacking system consisting of a converted rail system with a stepper motor and an Arduino Uno with a stepper motor shield and an LCD display. It was outdoor-capable with the built-in batteries.
 

I use a Ball Screw Linear Stroke Actuator with Stepper Motor and 100 mm Stroke and a 12mm diameter threaded rod, with high precision and flexibility. To controll the steppermotor I use the DRI0023 stepper motor shield, you can easily drive 2 stepper motors via just 4 digital I/O’s. This board is compatible with the Arduino UNO R3. Directly supports Xbee and Xbee form factor Wi-Fi, Bluetooth and RF modules. Easy connection of cables via screwless PC terminals.

Combined with a 4x20 LCD screen and a simple keypad I contoll the system.
